British Red Cross say:

The donations made by the Purey Cust Trust in 2016 and early 2018 have enabled British Red Cross volunteers to make 93 wheelchair loans to residents in the York area between 1st January and 29th August 2018.

Wheelchair loans are hugely valuable in lessening the risk of York residents experiencing isolation after an illness or injury. The money donated by the Purey Cust Trust purchased an array of different wheelchairs, including specialised wheelchairs for children.

The range of chairs available and the fact that they are brand new has enabled the service to extend its reach in the York area and help more people in a crisis with a functioning wheelchair that makes a huge difference, not only to the individual directly affected, but also to their families, friends and carers.
