Our Trustees

All our Trustees either live or work in York and all bring a range of skills and knowledge to support the effective running of the Trust. One of the Trustees’ key responsibilities is to maximise the impact of the Trust in delivery of its charitable objectives.

Mr Mike Green

Chairman of GEM Group of Companies

Mike is currently Chairman of the GEM group of companies and Director of the Star restaurant group of companies. He has many charitable interests, including being Chairman of the Fundraising Committee for the Merchant Adventurers 1988 Trust Charity and recently completed a 3 month voluntary charity mission in Kagando hospital in Uganda. He lives in York and is married with 3 grown up children.

David Heseltine

Dr David Heseltine

Consultant Physician

Consultant Physician at York Hospital since 1991, specialising in Medicine for the Elderly with special interests in Parkinson’s Disease and Low Blood Pressure. Born and brought up in North Yorkshire and graduated from Newcastle Medical School 1980. Other interests include sport (having a degree in Sport Psychology) and a former Trustee of Age Concern, York.

Geraldine Casswell

Mrs Geraldine Casswell

Retired Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Geraldine worked for many years (until 2013) in the NHS as a consultant clinical psychologist and subsequently independently as a trainer and supervisor. Since fully retiring from clinical work in 2021, she has become a church warden in Tang Hall and is enjoying the role of grandparent.

John Hamilton

Retired NHS GP

Retired after 30 years as a full-time GP in a Practice on the East side of the city of York. Also worked as an anaesthetist for five years and as a specialist in mental health for the elderly for 25 years. Member & Vice-chair of the BMA Local Medical Committee and various roles at Clifton Parish Church including church warden.

Phil Bodmer

Mr Phil Bodmer

Senior Broadcast Journalist at BBC Look North

Phil is a Senior TV Reporter for BBC Look North in Yorkshire. He in both television and radio for more than 35 years. He is married with a grown up son and has lived in Yorkshire for more than 3 decades. Phil is a former Vice President at York City FC and remains a keen supporter. He is also a volunteer at the Lancashire and Yorkshire school of Railway Signalling at the NRM in York. A keen walker and outdoor enthusiast.

Mrs Antonia Moore

Solicitor

Antonia is a solicitor and has worked for over 20 years in private practice in York delivering estate planning, trust and associated tax advice to her clients. She is currently working with Wrigleys LLP, a specialist Private Client practice based in Leeds. Antonia loves walking in the North Yorkshire countryside, enjoys running and supporting her husband and two teenage boys with their many sporting activities.

Mrs Marcella Sykes

Mental Health Nurse

Marcella is a Registered General Nurse and a Registered Mental Health Nurse. She has worked as a Nurse for the past 34 years. She is retired from full time work and currently works part time for TEWV NHS Trust in York (CAMHS). She has a clinical interest in young people with autism spectrum condition and Learning Disability. 

Dr Michael Pury Cust

Retired Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Recently retired as a hospital Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Derby. Trained in London and worked as a junior doctor in London, York and the midlands. Worked at Fulford Maternity Hospital, York District Hospital and briefly at the Purey Cust Nursing Home. Enjoys running (trail and fell), outdoor pursuits and looking after grandchildren.

None of the Trustees receive any payment for the work they carry out for the Trust.
